Arrive back on site to check out the gas smell, upon further investigation I found that the last time the gas line that I had shut off which I was under the impression was the gas furnace, actually was the gas line to the clothes dryer. Crawled up through the attic and confirmed the second gas line in the garage and traced it back to the shut off at the gas meter, that is the one for the gas furnace. I shut that off and the gas smell in the garage seemed to dissipate, however the garage door into the basement was open and it may have just mitigated itself out. Jackie will double check it when she gets home from work this evening and let us know if she continues to smell gas.

Arrived onsite for water heater service. System’s pilot light will not stay lit. Found a fault in the flame safety system. Also found the burner has been silicone sealed to the water heater. There is a high likelihood the burner could be damaged in trying to repair the water heater which will make things worse. Homeowner agreed the best course of action is to replace entire water heater. He may be interested in financing.
