Due to the failed heat exchanger, high carbon monoxide levels, and compromised venting, the furnace is unsafe to operate and has been condemned and red-tagged in accordance with safety standards. The system was shut down and gas turned off to prevent operation, as continued use poses a serious risk of carbon monoxide exposure and potential injury or death.
