Diagnosed hot water system issue which was incorrectly attributed to faulty cartridges. Identified and confirmed a defective 1-inch check valve allowing hot water to bleed into the domestic cold water line, resulting in 107°F water entering the water softener. Measurements showed system temperatures between 125-126°F. Follow-up includes ordering replacement check valve.
