Performed scheduled furnace tune-up on recently installed unit. System inspected and confirmed to be operating within normal parameters. Identified and repaired minor leak in PVC exhaust piping to restore proper venting integrity.
Inspected customer's 25-year-old furnace due to concerns about heat exchanger condition. Confirmed previous technician's findings of excessive rust, temperature stress, and wear where pipes connect to the manifold. Observed heat exchanger showing significant stress that presents a potential safety risk but does not yet warrant immediate condemnation. Tested and cleaned flame sensor which showed weak performance (1-1.7 µA). Scheduled service advisor for new furnace estimate and will provide separate estimate for heat exchanger and flame sensor replacement.
Performed comprehensive furnace tune-up service addressing several maintenance issues. Cleaned dirty flame sensor, cleared beehive buildup from fresh air intake/exhaust, replaced dirty filter, and addressed condensation leak at bottom right of furnace. Additionally, adjusted gas pressure on low/high settings, cleared condensation drain line, and verified normal carbon monoxide levels using diagnostic equipment.
