Performed furnace tune-up on aging Carrier natural gas system. Diagnostic testing with C16T Combustion Analyzer revealed secondary heat exchanger beginning to fail, with CO levels fluctuating above 100 ppm. Due to age of unit and safety concerns, recommended and completed replacement of the entire furnace system.
Diagnosed furnace issue where unit wouldn't stay lit due to heavily contaminated flame sensor and excessive dust accumulation in combustion area. Performed thorough cleaning of flame sensor rod and vacuumed out dust/debris from panel and surrounding components. After service, verified proper operation with successful ignition and sustained flame, resolving the no-heat condition.
