Initial annual checkup - tech indicated that the copious amt of white ash on boiler was b/c the hot water stack was hooked into the main stack at a T instead of a Y. Tech makes arrangements for someone to come back to fix (N/C - should have been done on installation). Had to call office 2 days later to find out when they were coming. Recept indicated that a plumber would be out the next day. Indicated that we don’t need a plumber we need HVAC or heating tech. Plumber arrive next day, says there’s nothing he can do….he’s a plumber. This needed HVAC. Calls office to set up next appointment. Tech’s come out and say that they don’t make an 8” Y and that the unit just needed a proper cleaning (thought all of those annual inspections were supposed to take care of that). Comes back this am and removes the upper housing on boiler and disconnects the stack. Using my shop vac and brush, they clean the upper unit and stack. Both had a good amt of ash and such. Zipped everything back up. 4 visits by Tech’s, several phone calls regarding “it’s 4:15 and no one has called…are you still coming out?” It seems to me that cleaning the unit annually or at least vacuuming out the stack, could have prevented a lot of this. Instead, DorMar incurred repeated visits, one from a licensed plumber (higher dollar labor costs), when a lot of this could have been avoided during the annual. I should note to you, about a year or so ago, we had a tech install a thermostat (in warmer months). The thermostat handles both heat and AC. Guy leaves, thermostat attempts to kick on AC but heater comes on. Had to get the guy back here. On another occasion, about 8-10 years ago, you guys installed my new AC unit upside down and had to come back about 3-4 times. I guess I’m simply wondering why do most of the calls to my house end up being multiple visits for the same issue. It takes away my time and frankly costs you money in increased labor, vehicle and gas, and customer satisfaction.
