The customer reported a gas smell near the furnace. After discussing with the son, it was confirmed that the gas company had identified a leak leading to the furnace. We tested all connections to the gas valve and found no external leaks. The gas company held a detector near the fresh air intake, which beeped, indicating an internal gas valve leak. We shut off the system and turned off the gas supply until the gas valve can be replaced.
