Upon arrival, I assessed the home's temperature at 72°, which the client had been working to achieve all day. We discussed the system, which included a dual fuel setup with propane, a furnace, and a heat pump. The system was set to heat mode. Switching to emergency heat significantly increased the air temperature. The client had never used this setting before, as they had never experienced an emergency. After switching to emergency heat, the temperature rose by another 3°. The client adjusted the thermostat to 70°F and decided to keep the system on emergency heat until outdoor temperatures improve.
