Responded to service call for 2011 40-gallon natural gas water heater that was failing to maintain ignition. Unit would initiate heating cycle and ignite but wouldn't stay lit after three attempts. Diagnosed issue as dirty flame sensor. Performed cleaning of flame sensor which restored proper operation and continuous flame detection during heating cycles.
