Responded to no heat complaint on 2-year-old furnace where homeowner expressed concern about basement temperatures potentially freezing pipes. Upon inspection, determined basement temperature was 59°F, well above freezing threshold. After evaluating ductwork configuration and discussing options with customer, drilled a 1-inch hole in supply run to provide moderate warm airflow to basement without compromising overall system performance or creating excess duct noise.
