We were called out due to the homeowner experiencing an unusually high water bill. Upon arrival, the main shutoff valve inside the house was turned off, and the water meter was inspected. An active leak was found on the main service line at a female brass fitting located directly in front of the water meter. During our inspection, several plumbing components were observed to be improperly installed and not up to current code or industry standards. The homeowner was not satisfied with the quality of the previous work and elected to have the system corrected and professionally reinstalled. A new 1-inch main water service line was installed from the water meter to the basement using high-density black polyethylene piping, including a new wall penetration. The wall penetration was properly sealed using hydraulic cement and tar to ensure a watertight and weatherproof seal.
