Homeowner has a yard hydrant with a dresser coupling that is leaking from the dresser coupling. The riser for the hydrant is galvanized. Informed the homeowner that there is no guarantee a repair is even possible on this. Informed the homeowner that galvanized should not be on potable water systems, and that the smartest option would be to install a new, code compliant yard hydrant. Homeowner wished to attempt a repair at first. Dug down about 6 inches and found the tie in for the yard hydrant. Tie in is a galvanized tee on a galvanized water service. The tie in tee for the riser is pointed straight up, branching directly off the water line. Informed the homeowner at this point that any work attempted is permanent, and there would be no ability to undo anything from this point on. Homeowner wished to continue. Removed old dresser coupling and hose spigot. Installed new dresser coupling and hose spigot off a brass nipple. Pressurized system and tested for leaks. No leaks at the time of
