Responded to customer complaint of onion-like odor from hot water supply. Examined 17-year-old Richmond water heater (model 12S50-40F1, manufactured 07/2006) which was functioning properly despite age. Attempted to remove anode rod to address sulfur smell issue but found it seized. Advised customer against further removal attempts due to risk of tank damage on aged unit and recommended complete water heater replacement as most appropriate solution.
