Responded to heat pump malfunction complaint where system was incorrectly operating on auxiliary heat. Diagnosed issue as a closed damper preventing airflow to main level, causing heat pump to only service the upper level. System was functioning within normal parameters but not meeting occupant expectations due to improper damper position. Adjusted damper to "open" position, disabled energy-saving features on Ecobee thermostat to reduce callbacks, and educated homeowner on proper system operation and damper functionality.
