arrived on site to find a Goodman condenser completely frozen solid with 3-4” thick ice around the condenser. We had the unit cycling in emergency heat (dual fuel, gas furnace) so they had heat but after we got the coil defrosted we checked charge and standing pressure was under 100 psi. Outdoor temp was low but when we cycled the unit in heat (heat pump) suction pressure dropped below 50 and the lineset began to freeze. We saw an uncapped schrader valve was leaking refrigerant and the piston outside showed signs of restriction. The disconnect was completely exposed to the elements, blower was dirty and the system would not go into defrost, even when attempted to force it into defrost. There is a substantial amount of work to do with the heat pump and client shared that she is moving and would like to consider full replacement before reinvesting this amount of money back into the existing system. No issues found with gas furnace other than dirty blower wheel but she wants somebody to c
