During our visit, the customer mentioned a gas leak was located by the local gas company. They also turned the gas off and locked the meter. The leak is located on a gas line that is coming out of the ground and into the side of the house. The black iron corroded and has began to leak. I located a shutoff valve for that gas line in the crawl space. After closing that valve, and all of the other gas appliances, a pressure test was done on the gas system. I pumped the lines up with 20 psi. After a couple of hours, the gauge never lost pressure. Considering the potential cost of the repair for the leak, the customer decided to eliminate the gas line. An estimate was created for us to return and remove the pressure gauge and reinstalled the gas line to the meter after inspection is completed.
