The day we came out to evaluate a basement toilet that was continuously running. The customer attempted to shut off the supply stop, however, the toilet continue to run, indicating a failed shut off and internal component issue. During the evaluation, I checked the home water pressure and found it to be 55 psi, which is within the recommended range. While on site, I also inspected the water heater and found it was installed in 2011. There was visible moisture present on both the cold water, inlet and hot water outlet, indicating the unit was beginning to fail due to age and where. I advised the customer of my findings and discussed replacement options. The customer decided to move forward with replacing the 50 gallon gas water heater along with installing a new expansion tank. Additionally, I replaced the toilet fill valve and the supply stop at no additional cost. Mrs. approved to work, and all repairs and replacements were completed today.
