The current panel has a broken main power wire that was damaged by a tree that fell onto the main electrical line coming into the home. The wire was pulled to the ground and pulled out of the house, causing around 6' of sheathing to tear and damaging one of the ungrounded conductors, causing the entire system to only be getting half the incoming power, resulting in half the circuits to be off and all the 240 circuits to only be receiving 120. According to Jonesboro municipality, if a wire is damaged in any way, a service upgrade is required by law, repairs to the wire are not allowed. In order to do this install legally, we are required to pull permits. In pulling permits for a service upgrade, certain requirements must be met, including; whole home surge protector, updated smoke detectors to code, updated grounding system, and afci/gfci style breakers.
