To begin, I cancelled my appointment with another AC company because I was told TE could be there by 10. They arrived at 10:30. No big deal. I’m an electrician in the 613 union in Atlanta so I relayed what I deduced to be the issue, which was the control board because it clearly was damaged. I also I asked for the cause for the condenser unit running continuously even though the unit was off. After 15 minutes of investigation, and 15 in the truck, I was told the motherboard and the float switch would need to be changed to fix the AC, quoted at $898 for the “bandaid”. I changed out both parts myself because I thought the quote was ridiculous (it’s a simple change over of connections for a $40 part). So I did it myself. And the condenser unit still runs with a brand new board. I’d be happy to send photos of the new board. The second quote was for $4,434 and that included the $898 for the board and float switch, and the remaing $3,536 was for cleaning the entire AC unit. Needless to say I’ve gone and done that myself also. Cleaned the build up on the coils inside and out. Which I’m glad I did. Because it still has not remedied the issue of my condenser running while my thermostat is off. So I would’ve been out over four thousand dollars and still been in the same predicament. Maybe if a little more investigation was done I would be able to leave a better review or have more understanding. But as someone that works for customers in a similar trade, I don’t understand the laziness for a $100 inspection. I would love to hear a reply back and I will be posting this on google. Thank you.
