Customer stated that the toilet in the basement was leaking from the base. Upon inspection, I noticed that the toilet was 1/2” off of the floor around the back of the base. I suspected that this was caused by an improperly set flange. We pulled the toilet and found that a 3” slip in flange was installed in a 4” pipe. The flange was not sealed to anything and was loose on the floor. We also found that the 12” rough in toilet would not fit due to the flange being too close to the wall. We discussed this with the home owner and decided that installing a new 10” rough toilet was the best option. Removed existing flange and glued in a new pvc 4x3 flange. Mounted the flange to the floor with tapcon screws. Installed a new wax ring and nylon closet bolts. Before we set the toilet, I replaced the sharkbite water stop with a pex angled stop to prevent issues moving forward. Set the new toilet and tested for leaks and proper function. Finished around the base with white silicone. Thank you
