Homeowner states unit is not cooling, upon arrival the unit had a 20° temperature split which leads me to believe that this issue was intermittent. Found multiple workmanship concerns up in the attic by the air handler. Air handler was missing nine screws across the blower cover and the evaporator cover, noticeable gaps where attic air can infiltrate. Also found zone board cover to be off behind the unit in the emergency drain pan. Found both disconnect covers to be left off. Proceeded to the outdoor unit after checking the inside to make sure there’s no issues with the zoning or airflow. Found a faulty dual run capacitor for the outdoor unit was well below its rating. Homeowner states previous technician may have brought up the capacitor verbally, but there is no mention off it on the evaluation form nor the observations. Going into the summertime, a capacitor is a crucial part of the air-conditioning system.
