Client had a lavatory sink in the master bath that was leaking at the drain tailpiece, this leak has been going on for a while and they just noticed some staining coming from the ceiling underneath. Cleaned up tubular connections and ran water for 10 minutes to verify the leak was gone. My client mentioned another stain coming from the attic. There is no plumbing or HVAC condensate drain in this area. There was a bathroom vent that used single wall metal venting. I reached out to an HVAC tech, who mentioned it was highly unlikely that condensation from this vent would be enough to leave a stain in the drywall. I didn’t see any stains or leaks from the 1 year old roof. I would consult an attic specialist / leak search to look further into this matter. It’s certainly not plumbing related.
