Upon arrival customer stated that heat had went out and only heat strips were working for system. Indoor air handler is 16 years old outdoor heat pump is 25 years old. Unit does use r22 refrigerant which is obsolete. After inspection of system found that unit had a failed condenser fan motor. System did run for about 10 minutes until the fan completely stopped. The refrigerant pressures are very low, outdoor contactor is very pitted, outdoor capacitor did test ok, condenser coils are very dirty, outdoor compressor is very loud and failing. Checked indoor system, blower wheel is very dirty, blower capacitor tested good, evaporator coil is rusting, drain line is not built properly for a heat pump no p trap on drain line. Emergency drain pan is very old and does not go under entire system, advised customer of issues, due to unit being obsolete, age of equipment and repairs needed on system recommended updating system.
