Returned and installed capicator compressor saver and April aire upgrade. Also sealed substantial airflow gaps in system. Comfort advisor visit today is for insulation ductwork and or duct cleaning.
I arrived and inspected the insulation, ductwork, and system. Customer complained of an attic smell from supply vents. Found dust bypassing current filter and air flow gaps in the system that are pulling in attic air. Ductwork is attached to the plenums but would benefit from replacement. Coil is clean and drain lines run properly. Insulation is low and degraded, strongly recommend new insulation. Outdoor units capicator is out of tolerance and the compressor is overamping on start up. I scheduled a comfort advisor visit for next Friday from 3-5 for ductwork and insulation. I recommended upgrading to an April aire filter, sealing the airflow gaps in the indoor unit and replacing the dual run capicator and adding a compressor saver kit to address the compressor overamping on start up.
On arrival system was off, customer stated that whole machine was frozen. Found severely restricted blower wheel and was able to remove half of the restriction by hand, but back side of blower still clogged. Coil dirty and rusted. Found 30 degree superheat but low side saturated temp was 40. Unable to fully diagnose refridgerant due to airflow and cleanliness issues. Advised that I would recommend replacement of system due to age and condition of system in addition to the upcoming refridgerant change. Will call back to do a financing pre-approval later in the week.

This system tripped on wet switch. Today I cleared the drian and will return to install easy start. I'm pausing the job until parts come in
Clogged filter was tripping the system on low pressure. I did a hard reset and pulled out the filter. System is back online and cooling.
