Unsatisfying Experience

I have water dripping from my AC unit. The technician took five minutes to look at the puddle and check for a connection under the bathroom sink. He did not even go up in my crawl space to assess the AC unit itself. He told me it’s PROBABLY a clog further down in the pluming, backing up into the unit, and that I needed to call a plumber instead. After that “expert advice,” he had the GALL to charge me a $49 service fee for coming out, and told me I should be thankful I had a coupon so that it wasn’t more! I chose this provider because both my father and brother had full unit replacements with this provider and maintain service contracts with them. We’re now questioning if that level of hardware replacement was necessary for them. I guess all three of us will be going elsewhere from here out for our HVAC needs.

Response from Comfort Experts Inc.:

Joe, please accept our apologies and know that we find this as concerning as you do. This is not typical and we are disappointed in the experience you describe receiving with us. According to our records, the technician returned and everything is satisfactory. Please don't hesitate to call us if you need anything. Thank you.

Tech Cody arrived to customer's home and met the homeowner. The system was calling for cool but not getting voltage outside. I diagnosed a faulty thermostat that was not giving voltage to the Y wire. I shared my findings with the homeowner and explained the benefits of the home and budget protection club. He decided that he did not want to conduct the work today and declined to join our membership.

Arrived for service Eval Evap coil shedding water straight onto the filter instead of into the drain pan. Coil needs to be replaced and a UV system should be installed to eliminate all biological growth from the system Biological growth present on the coil drain pan, Blower wires, and coil door insulation Condenser Dual run cap and hard start kit are not secured to the unit correctly and should be remind to prevent issues

For this evaluation the customer stated the Evap coil had frozen all the way to the compressor. When I got in the attic the blower was not running and the control board was throwing a "b1" code indicating the blower lost connection to the integrated control module. I disconnected the wires and plugged them back in and made sure they weren't loose and turned it back on. The blower started running normally. At the condenser I had a 33⁰ Superheat, and my amp draws looked good. I left with the system cooling just fine.

For this evaluation I showed up to the customer's home and they stayed at the unit was having a hard time keeping up and not blowing cold air all the time. I showed up the furnace was working so I started outside and gauged up where my sub cool was 10 degrees and superheat was around 8° indicating good levels of refrigerant. However when I tested the capacitor it was out of tolerance so I recommended replacing it and the customer requested me to do so. I could not find any explanation as to why the system was not keeping up as there was no float switch, and refrigerant levels looked good.

Upon arrival Customer stated indoor was working and blowing but Condenser was not coming on at all. After evaluation found Condenser was throwing open start circuit code and found Dual run capacitor was weak. Replaced 35/5 dual run cap, reset system and system is running as should.

Tech Cody arrived to customer's home. The homeowner informed me that they had another AC tech out to their house before us, after he left they notcied that the home wasnt cooling and that the outdoor unit wasnt running, the homeowner found the disconnect was removed from its plug. When i arrived the unit was running but not cooling, outside the fan motor was not running, when I inspected the unit I found that the fan wire was not connected to the auxiliary motor starter. The homeowner wanted me to conduct a minor electrical repair to get the system running, after my repair I hooked up my guages and found the system to be low on refrigerant. I found no leak in the linesets and the homeowner wanted me to charge the system with refrigerant. At the indoor unit I noticed a vibrating noise coming from the system, upon further inspection I found it to be nothing harmful to the system but just vibration from the blower making noise. The system was cooling when I left.

Mike S. Tested all components all measured within ratings and specs. Refrigerant level is normal. Washed and cleaned condenser. Filter was changed recently. Drain switch is installed on secondary line which makes it redundant also primary line has no ptrap and only one vent out of code. Offered customer estimates to repair. Customer said he has a labor warranty with the install company who he thought was us comfort air installed this system. Emailed estimates and HVAC form.

Customer has water standing in water heater pan and water standing in return area was told by last technician that if water appeared again to call us back out. Condensation pump is working and pumping water out not overflowing drain line is clear both ways. Refrigerant level is normal not freezing and coil pan is not cracked. I advised to have a plumber come out and inspect water heater. Customer is gonna have install company for water heater come out and look at the plumbing side.
