3 ton carrier straight electric attic horizontal 2015 Condenser fan motor fail. Dual run capacitor fail. Compressor amping above manufacturers data. Leaks detected in coil. Heavy biological growth indoor unit. Weak filtration. No warranty. System down upon arrival. Homeowner states Compressor has been sounding odd lately. After diagnostic, I dove deeper and performed a courtesy leak detection and found a leak of refrigerant. Homeowners have a newborn coming into the home soon and are very concerned about the IAQ. Asked about duct cleaning because of it (before they knew what I found in the indoor unit). I explained the benefits of IAQ products including upgrade filter system. After explaining that the systems performance is severely lacking and it has no manufacturers warranty to off set the cost of repairs they agreed to have a CA appointment 6/17/24 @3p to discuss a more efficient system. Both homeowners are first responders so please price accordingly. Tech recommended solut

Tech Cody arrived to customer's home and met the homeowners. The indoor would come on but not the outdoor. Outside the board was giving the locked rotor fault code, I diagnosed a failed compressor saver. The unit had Warranty P&L so I replaced the part and then the unit turned on and started cooling.

Tech Cody arrived to customer's home and met the homeowners. Indoors the filter was replaced, the coil is clean, the blower wheel blades were clean but the blower case had biological growth on it. The heat strips were functioning in range. I noticed that the primary and secondary drain lines were clogged and water had completely filled the drain pan and was starting to leak out of the unit into the emergency drain pan. Outside I hooked up my guages and found the refrigerant circuit to be good, the compressor and fan motor were operating within manufacturer range. The capacitor and primary electrical control were both in good condition. I washed and waxed the unit at the end. I shared my findings with the homeowners and Gabe them all their options for maintaining the unit and preventing further issues. They decided to talk it over first before making any decisions.

Arrived to no cool. Found the 4 year old goodman straight electric system to be low on r410a refrigerant. Performed leak search and found a leak in the evaporator coil. System is under a parts only warranty. Customer asked if I could check the refrigerant on the 2007 carrier r22 system next to the system I was diagnosing. Found the r22 system to be low on refrigerant as well. Delta T is 11 degrees and superheat is 45 degrees. Vapor line temp is 72 degrees and vapor saturation temp is 28 degrees. Suggest replacement on the older r22 system. As well as evaporator coil replacement on the 2020 Goodman air handler.

Tech Cody arrived to customer's home and met the homeowner. I started the tune up upstairs, the was clogged so I replaced, the coil was mostly clean but had some dust buildup. The blower was clean, there was some biological growth starting to appear on the motor wires. The heat strips were operating within manufacturer range. The temperature split was only 9 degrees and when I hooked up my guages the subcoolmwas at 1 degree, I did a courtesy leak search but was unable to pinpoint all the leaks. Outside I found the capacitor to be weakened and considered failed by the manufacturer, the compressor and fan motor were operating within manufacturer range. I washed the coil outside before waxing the unit. Imshared my findings with the homeowner and recommended they charge the system up with refrigerant, as well as replace the weak capacitor and install a compressor saver to help lower stress on the compressor.
