For this job, I worked on a multi super tune-up on two gas furnace systems. I went through all the mechanical and electrical part of the systems and checked for maximum efficiency. Filters were replaced and outside condensers were washed. UV bulbs we're non functional, and customer approved for replacement next Friday. A duct cleaning for the upstairs unit was also recommended, I explained to the customer that the duct cleaning includes, blower clean, coil clean and microbial mist for the ducts. For this job I performed a evaluation. The damper from downstairs failed and was not opening completely even when receiving a 24 v call. I have the home owner the option between a complete repair replacing the damper vs a temporary fix bypassing the damper completely and keeping it open at all times working from the upstairs thermostat control. The homeowner opted to do the temporary repair right now and will consider a complete repair in the future. No further abnormalities were noted, the system was cooling within normal upon departure. I did explain to the homeowner with the zone system working properly they will experience temperature differences between upstairs and down stairs pri.arily working through the upstairs thermostat. For this job I performed a complimentary plumbing inspection. Customer was having an issue with one of their tandem water heater set up. Stating water would get lukewarm towards end of shower. While performing the inspection on the unit I noticed that the gas control valve was in the pilot position. I turned the knob to on, the unit fired up immediately. Tested the units to ensure proper functioning. Made recommendation to customer, really need to consider getting new units, both units are 19 years old.
