For this evaluation the customer called us back out because he had replaced his own transformer and after replacing the transformer the system was not cooling. The indoor was running so I started outside and gauged up where I had a 66° superheat for the Piston metering device and a 15° saturation temp. The system is from 1991 and utilizes r22 refrigerant, when I spoke to the customer I explained the system has a leak since he's low on refrigerant and even if we add refrigerant it's unknown how long it will last in the system. He stated he had refrigerant put in 10 years ago and so he knows that the refrigerant will not last a week, or month and that he could find refrigerant somewhere else for cheaper. Customer also stated that they are selling the house and they are not going to replace the system.
