For this job we came back to reassess the customers issues with the system not working. Initially the previous technicians at diagnosed a bad zone control board and bypassed it. I wanted to do my own assessment and evaluation of the system so I reconnected everything like it was supposed to be and connected via cool cloud to see if there were any active faults or previous faults that would give me insight as to what the problem was. When I connected the system had an active 04 Locked Rotor code. When I measured the capacitor was with intolerance which lets me know that the compressor was over ramping on startup and needed a hard start kit. I installed the hard start kit and the LRA went down from 160A to 97A. We also tested both thermostats to make sure that they were functioning appropriately and the system would shut off when there's no longer a call for cool and the thermostat was satisfied. Both thermostats appear to be functioning as they should.
